The banner on the left pictures the tents of the Israelites in the desert. One would expect that the time should be morning, before the people have awakened to see the manna that has fallen before their tents, but the sun seems quite high in the sky.
The detail at right shows the falling manna. The inscription at the top of the banner is Ich bin das Brod des Lebens Ioh:6.C.35.V. ("I am the bread of life, John, chapter 6, verse 35").
